A Finnish Hot Dog

Kuuma Koira Recipe Finnish Street Food

Kuuma koira, or “hot dog” in Finnish, is typically served on a sweet, doughnut-like bun.

Yields:  2 servings  Prep time:  5 minutes  Cooking time:  5-7 minutes

Ingredients


  • 2 sweet doughnut buns
  • 2 sausages
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) mustard
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) ketchup
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) chopped onions
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) chopped pickles
  • 1 tablespoon grated horseradish
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh dill

Method


  • Cook the sausages: Cook the sausages according to package directions.

  • Warm the buns: Warm the sweet doughnut buns in a toaster oven or on a grill.

  • Assemble the hot dogs: Place the cooked susages in the warmed buns.

  • Top with condiments: Top with mustard, ketchup, onions, pickles, horseradish, and dill.
