Makkaraperunat Finnish Recipe

Makkaraperunat a simple yet satisfying Finnish dish that’s perfect for a quick and easy meal. It consists of fried potatoes served with savoury sausages and a variety of toppings.

Yields:  4-6 servings  Prep time: 15 minutes  Cooking time:  20-25 minutes

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds (1 kg) potatoes, peeled and cut into thick slices
  • 4-6 sausages
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) butter
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) chopped onions
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) chopped dill
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Method

 

  • Fry the potatoes: Fry the potatoes in oil until golden brown and crispy.

  • Grill the sausages: Grill the sausages until cooked through and slightly charred.

  • Make the sauce: In a skillet, melt the butter and sauté the onions until softened.

  • Combine ingredients: Combine the fried potatoes, grilled sausages, onion mixture, dill, salt, and pepper in a large bowl. Toss to coat.

  • Serve: Serve immediately.
