Hawaiian Poke Bowl: A Fresh and Tasty Meal

Hawaiian Poke bowl recipe

A Hawaiian poke bowl is a customizable dish featuring fresh raw fish, typically tuna or salmon, served over rice with various toppings.

 

Yields:  2 servings  Prep time:  20 minutes  Cook time:  5-10 minutes (for rice)

Ingredients

For the base:

  • 1 cup (250 ml) cooked sushi rice
  • 1/2 cup (125 ml) mixed greens

For the protein:

  • 1 pound (500 grams) fresh tuna or salmon, cut into cubes
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes

For the toppings:

  • 1/2 avocado, diced
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) chopped green onions
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) toasted sesame seeds
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) seaweed salad
  • Sriracha sauce (optional)

 

Method

 

    • Cook the rice: Cook the rice according to package instructions.

    • Prepare the fish: In a bowl, combine the fish, soy sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, ginger, and red pepper flakes. Marinate for 15-30 minutes.

    • Assemble the bowl: Place the cooked rice and mixed greens in bowls. Top with the marinated fish.

    • Add toppings: Add the avocado, green onions, sesame seeds, and seaweed salad.

    • Serve: Serve immediately with Sriracha sauce, if desired.
