Ang Dtray Meuk is a simple yet delicious Cambodian dish featuring grilled squid. It’s a popular street food that’s often served with a tangy dipping sauce.

Yields:  2-3 servings  Prep time:  15 minutes  Cook time:  5-7 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 pound (500 grams) fresh squid, cleaned
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon fish sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 red chili, sliced
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) chopped cilantro

Method

 

  • Prepare the squid: Clean the squid and cut it into bite-sized pieces.

  • Marinate the squid: In a bowl, combine the squid with lime juice, fish sauce, black pepper, garlic, and chili. Marinate for at least 30 minutes.

  • Grill the squid: Grill the marinated squid over high heat for 2-3 minutes per side, or until cooked through.

  • Serve: Serve the grilled squid with chopped cilantro.
