Fried plantain is a popular Bahamian side dish made from ripe plantains that are sliced, fried, and often dusted with sugar or cinnamon.

Yields:  2-4 servings  Prep time:  15 minutes  Cooking time:  10-15 minutes

Ingredients


  • 2 ripe plantains, peeled and sliced
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) oil
  • 1/4 cup (50 grams) granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

 

Method


  • Heat the oil: Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

  • Fry the plantains: Add the sliced plantains to the hot oil and fry for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown.

  • Dust with sugar and cinnamon: Remove the plantains from the oil and dust with sugar and cinnamon.

  • Serve: Serve immediately
